The Loveland Sculpture Invitational Show & Sale began 12 years ago when several local artists gathered with two goals in mind. Their desire was to expand opportunities for sculptors to display and sell their work while at the same time giving back to the community through public sculpture donations and enriching our area school's art education experience through monetary donations. Over the past 12 years more than 28 sculptures have been purchased, with 24 currently donated and placed throughout the City of Loveland for public display and enjoyment. The McKee Foundation has also been pleased to receive two pieces from the Loveland Sculpture Group, which were placed by the Oncology Wing and along the Wellness Walk. The Thompson Valley School District and several privately run schools have reaped the benefits of this extremely successful show through over $160,000 donated for art education needs. Please come see some of these students in action at our 'Emerging Artist' tent. The public is invited to try their hand at sculpting with the assistance of our student artists! New and existing collectors always look forward to the bargains they find during our Silent Auction held Saturday and Sunday. Many of the proceeds from this fun activity go the New Friendship Club of Loveland, our key volunteer organization, to provide shoes for needy children. We are happy to have you here to visit the 325 premier quality sculptors at our show. Since the 'Invitational' charges a flat fee per sculptor, no commission is involved. The artists are free to negotiate prices with you, their buyer. Please wander freely among our sculpture garden and delight in the variety of styles and medium available. And Thank You so much far your continued support! Sculpture in the Park 2003 Celebrating 20 Years! ... The Loveland High Plains Arts Council (LHPAC), a private non-profit organization, was founded in 1984 for the purpose of promoting sculptural arts for the cultural and economic benefit of the entire community. The organization is comprised of a Board of Directors and hundreds of extraordinary community volunteers. The main focus of LHPAC continues to be the organization and sponsorship of the annual Sculpture in the Park show. This impressive annual exhibit employs a jury of talented sculptors to review the work of each participating artist. The process insures a uniformly high quality of work and produces a pleasing diversity of art styles. Proceeds generated from the show go towards the purchase of sculpture for Benson Sculpture Garden as well as toward the funding of park improvements and landscaping. To date, over 90 pieces of sculpture valued at over $2.8 million grace the grounds of Benson Park. This year, Sculpture in the Park is celebrating it's 20' Anniversary and a number of special events have been planned for the occasion, including a special exhibit entitled "Take Home A Piece of the Park". This unique collection features macquette-sized versions of fifty of the pieces of sculpture that are on permanent display in Benson Sculpture Garden. They will be available for sale for the first time at Sculpture in the Park 2003. Welcome to our 20" Anniversary show!
